What to Expect

If you are thinking of joining us on Sunday, here is some information that might be helpful for you.

GATHERED: Worship

On the 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month we GATHER together where we do some deliberate things to point to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

  • Worship through Prayer:  We pray together corporately at our Worship Gatherings. These prayers include prayers of invitation, confession, and thanksgiving. All are invited to join us in these times.
  • Worship through the Word:  Each Gathering will involve Scriptural readings as well as a sermon preached by an Elder or someone appointed by the Elders.
  • Worship through the Supper:  At the Exchange Church we choose to celebrate the Lord's Supper (sometimes called Communion) each time we gather on Sunday. This is a practice we respectfully reserve for those who are Christians.
  • Worship through Song:  We see worship as a response to who God is and what he has done.

SCATTERED: Worship

On the 1st and 3rd (&5th) Sundays of the month we SCATTER into various house churches in our community. These times together are modeled after Acts 2.42 where the early church is said to have devoted itself to four things: The Apostles' Teaching, The Fellowship, The Breaking of Bread, and The Prayers.

If you join us for one of our Scattered House Churches, expect a far more intimate and engaged setting. We encourage everyone present (including children) to contribute to our time together reading and discussing Scripture, Confessing and Praying for one another, and taking the Lord's Supper together (if you believe that Jesus was raised from the dead).

These times are simple and not showy. They are not novel or new, but rather reflect something ancient, tried, and true. These are spaces for you to come with questions and honesty. These are spaces where you will be received as a member of the family. This is where so much of the soul-beautifying work is done in our Church Family.

Our People

The Exchange Church is comprised of people from various walks of life. It is our desire to welcome everyone into our times of worship. We welcome all!

You can expect a warm, friendly, and safe environment for all people. No story is too long, no past is too damaged, no scars are too ugly. It is the love of Christ that fuels our desire to serve and love you wherever you are. And it is that same love that motivates us to help you get to wherever you need to be.
